Overview

What Is a Walkway Fixed Ladder?

A walkway fixed ladder is a permanently bolted vertical ladder that carries people up to a raised walkway, a mezzanine, or a crossover platform. It is not a portable unit. It welds to the structure and stays put — rated, certified, and ready for daily traffic. We cut every walkway ladder to the climb height on your drawing, in Q235B carbon steel or SS304 stainless.

In our factory, we usually pre-weld the top stand-off bracket and the platform tie-in plate before the unit ships. The install crew then bolts straight to the walkway stringer — no on-site cutting, no guesswork on the landing gap. Small step, but it keeps the transition flush and the anchor pattern exact.

A food-processing plant in Southeast Asia recently ordered 40 hot-dip galvanized units for conveyor-line crossover access; the batch left with material certificates, load-test data, and third-party SGS inspection on file. We ship factory-direct to 50+ countries, with no trading house between you and the welders.

Compliance

Standards & Compliance: OSHA 1910.23, 1910.28 & EN ISO 14122-4

In-House Load Testing

Sample tension test, every batch — ISO 9001:2015

OSHA 1910.23 & 1910.28 Compliant

Rung spacing, clearances, and fall-protection triggers built to the US fixed-ladder and walking-working-surfaces rules. Above 24 ft (7.3 m) we fit a ladder safety system or cage.

EN ISO 14122-2 & 14122-4 Build

Walkway tie-in and ladder geometry follow the European standard for permanent means of access to machinery — part 2 for walkways and platforms, part 4 for fixed ladders.

Certified Materials

Q235B, SS304, or SS316 supplied with material certificates and weld-inspection reports for every batch. Each steel walkway ladder ships with its own paperwork.

Load-Tested In House

Each production batch is sample tension-tested; third-party inspection by SGS, TÜV, or Bureau Veritas on request. Built under ISO 9001:2015.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What load can a walkway fixed ladder carry?
Each rung is built for a minimum 1.5 kN single concentrated load per EN ISO 14122-4, and we sample tension-test every batch. We can rate higher for heavy-traffic crossover points — tell us the duty and we size the bar.
Galvanized or stainless — which should I pick?
Hot-dip galvanized Q235B is the workhorse for indoor and most outdoor plants. For washdown, food, or coastal sites we run SS304 or SS316. A galvanized walkway ladder costs less; stainless lasts longer in corrosive air.
Do I need a cage or guardrail?
It depends on height and code. Under OSHA 1910.23, runs above 24 ft (7.3 m) need a ladder safety system or cage. At the top, where you step onto the ladder walkway, a self-closing gate or guardrail keeps the opening protected.
Can you match our existing platform drawing?
Yes. Send the platform or walkway drawing and the climb height. We fabricate the tie-in plate and stile to suit, then ship factory-direct with documents.
