Overview

What Is a Vertical Fixed Access Ladder?

A vertical ladder runs straight up at 90° and bolts permanently to a wall, tank, or steel frame. It takes the least floor space of any access ladder. An inclined or step ladder needs a long run-out at the base; a fixed vertical access ladder does not. That makes it the default for tank exteriors, plant rooms, and silo climbs where space is tight.

In our factory, we usually pre-weld the stand-off brackets to the stiles before galvanizing. It keeps the 150 mm wall clearance exact and saves the install crew an hour on site. Small step — but it makes the anchor pattern repeatable across a whole batch.

We ship factory-direct to 50+ countries, with no trading house in the middle. A food-processing plant in Southeast Asia recently took a run of SS304 fixed access ladders for silo access; the order left the floor with material certificates, weld reports, and third-party SGS inspection on file.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a vertical ladder and an inclined or step ladder?
A vertical fixed access ladder climbs straight up at 90° and saves floor space. An inclined ladder sits at 60–75° and is easier to climb but needs more room at the base. For tank and plant access where space is tight, the vertical type usually wins.
When does a vertical access ladder need a safety cage?
Under OSHA 1910.23, climbs above 24 ft (7.3 m) need a cage or a ladder safety system; many sites now prefer a vertical rail or lifeline. EN ISO 14122-4 sets its own guard rules. We size fall protection to the standard your project follows.
Which standards do your fixed access ladders meet?
We build to OSHA 1910.23 for US projects and EN ISO 14122-4 for European ones, with BS 4211 on request. Every batch ships with material certificates, weld reports, and load-test data.
What does a fixed vertical ladder cost?
Price tracks climb height, material (HDG Q235B vs SS304 / SS316), fall-protection type, and finish. Because we are the factory, you skip the trading-house markup.
